1996

Business Started

Opusweb was formed as a partnership under the business name Opus Web Technologies.

1998

Chicago COMDEX

Opusweb attended COMDEX at Chicago's McCormick Place and witnessed the infamous "blue screen" fiasco during Bill Gates' presentation to promote Windows 98.

2000

First Tag Line

For the first time since the business was started, "Professional Web development. Clearly." was adopted as the business tagline.

2001

Radio Campaign Begins

Our first-ever radio broadcast campaign begins and focused exclusively on our offering of custom, client-updateable (content management) websites.

2001

Office Move

Starting out on the lower level of 314
Shelden Avenue in downtown Houghton, a much larger and open space on the second floor became available.

2002

Chicagoland Marketing

Our first targeted out-of-state marketing campaign began in the Chicago area with publications such as the Chicago Journal, Forest Park Review, Wednesday Journal, and others.

2003

New Logo & Name

A new logo and adopting our domain name as our business name came to fruition. Opus Web Technologies is now referred to as opusWeb.com.

2004

MAB Award

opusWeb.com takes home a Michigan Association of Broadcasters award for "Best in Category" with a commercial concept we aired over a period of two months on WBUP/WBKP ABC 10.

2005

Office Relocation

Relocation from Shelden Avenue to 600 E. Lakeshore Drive on Houghton's waterfront, which was the UPPCO building. Presently, it is known as the Lakeshore Center.

2008

Office Move to Hancock

After almost four years in the UPPCO building, our office made the move from Houghton to the 4th floor of the former D&N Bank building in downtown Hancock.

2010

Tagline Change

After ten years, the tagline used online and in our marketing efforts changed to "A Better Web (In)sight." This was a play on words giving way to a better "website" as well as "a better web" is "in sight."

2012

Website Wins Award

The Michigan Tech Global Watershed website, designed and built by opusWeb.com, wins national award at the National Science Foundation GK12 National Conference.

2013

Print Campaign

Dual newspaper campaigns dubbed "Better Website" and "Choose Carefully" were released. While different visuals were used, both aimed for the same result in core messaging.

2019

New Logo & Name

After 16 years of the same logo and assumed name, opusWeb.com transitions to Opusweb.

2021
